Rental Car Insurance Explained
The Agreement says renters are responsible for understanding the insurance they already have or elect to purchase. If Insurance is purchased through the rental company, any waiver of financial responsibility is subject to the Agreement and the coverage noted on the Rental Record.

What the Agreement says
The controlling concepts
- The renter is responsible for knowing and understanding existing or elected insurance coverage for the rental.
- Liability insurance must provide at least the minimum limits required by the financial-responsibility law where a loss occurs.
- If Insurance is purchased, Section 5 describes a waiver of financial responsibility for all or part of Physical Damage as noted on the Rental Record, subject to the Agreement.
- Section 5 states that valid and collectible liability and personal-injury-protection insurance of an authorized rental or leasing driver is primary for limits required by the cited Florida statutes.

Understand the boundary
The word insurance does not describe one universal outcome. Personal policies, card benefits, optional products, exclusions, and the Rental Record can differ.
This guide does not say that a personal policy qualifies, that a credit card provides coverage, or that an optional product covers every loss. The Florida statute references and their application should be reviewed by qualified counsel.

Does every personal policy qualify for the rental?

Does every credit card include rental coverage?
